3 Horses Seized From Property That Has History Of Problems
MORRISON, Colo. (CBS4) – Three horses have been seized from a property in Morrison after a veterinarian determined they were in poor condition and had significant health issues.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, investigators and animal control officers on Friday served a search warrant at 17346 Forest Avenue in connection with an on-going investigation of suspected mistreatment of the horses.
"The gelding had a hole in his jaw that had become infected and needed immediate care. The mare was simply way too thin and malnourished. The foal had joint problems that they believe could be due to lack of proper feed," said Mark Techmeyer from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
The horses were relocated to a horse rescue facility in the south metro area.
In May 2013, 18 horses were seized from the same property.

"The owners, Gary and Sandra Norman pleaded guilty to misdemeanor animal cruelty in January, 2014 regarding those seizures. The three horses seized on Friday were being housed on their property, but they are not the owners, nor were they responsible for the care of the horses," the sheriff's office said in a statement.
The Normans aren't expected to be charged in the case but the owners of the three horses, who haven't been identified, could face possible charges.
