The four surviving victims have non life-threatening injuries, police said. Three victims are men. Two were transported from the scene, a third walked into Denver Health's facility shortly after, police said.

The fourth surviving victim is a female who was transported by ambulance late Sunday morning from a separate location to the hospital.

Police said they have not arrested anyone.

"We've learned there was a conflict between two individuals... We're working to determine what the root cause of that was and where that started, but that escalated into a shooting. It's possible there was more than one shooter," police officials said.

One man describes the scene inside a hookah bar.

"Our hookah table with our hookah stuff spilled all over us. There was a lot of commotion. So we were trying to figure out what was going on. We saw blood on the floor. We heard people saying 'Gun shots! Gun shots!' And we immediately tried to find an exit," said the man who asked to be referred to as "Check."

He told us he was at the Elevate Smoke Lounge when the evening took a sudden turn.

"I didn't hear any shots, music was pretty loud, but I did see the blood all over the floor, the trail from the back door all the way to the front door."

"Check" and his friends tried to get out that front door, but security wouldn't let them, they had to get out using the back door.

"We saw the ambulance come, the fire department, the police officers come. We saw them trying to revive a body on the street—I don't think he made it."

Police say the shooting happened outside an establishment.

"It's unfortunate when two individuals that don't get along or have an outstanding dispute, if they come in contact with each other downtown or any other part of our community, it's unfortunate that people would result to this level of violence," Denver Police Chief Paul Pazen said on Sunday.

Investigators ask for anyone with more information about the shooting to call CrimeStoppers at 720-913-STOP.

Last September, two men were arrested in a shooting at the same intersection.
