The Will Co. State's Attorney said Christian Shepherd from Ottawa was sentenced to 74 years. He was convicted of trying to hire a fellow inmate to murder a victim he was charged with sexually assaulting as well as others.
Authorities have said he targeted the boy and his mother because of their Muslim faith, and because of the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.
Joseph Czuba, 71, was charged with the attack on the woman and with murdering her 6-year-old son.
