Police say the 41-year-old victim was dropped off at a firehouse after he was shot by someone in a white vehicle.
The shooting happened just after 2 a.m. in the 4100 block of West Congress Parkway.
The victim tried to drive off to escape the gunfire when he hit a curb and then a tree.
Chicago police said just before midnight, someone in a dark-colored sedan opened fire in the 3800 block of West Gladys Avenue.
Police arrested the 16-year-old Thursday afternoon, in the 4000 block of West Lake Street.
