Even before the first responders' pleas for help Sunday night, the forecasters at the National Weather Service Office already knew the storm storm was going to be trouble.
"That rubble buried those folks, and it looks to me the wind moved that rubble to the side, creating less of a weight on the individuals," the Naperville fire chief said.
Many families' lives were changed drastically overnight, following a tornado that left some homes virtually destroyed in Naperville.
Sunday night's EF-3 tornado that tore through DuPage County had wind speeds between 136 and 165 mph. Historical records show this is the first significant EF-2 or greater tornado in the county in 45 years.
