Jeremy Wormack, 35, was arrested on Wednesday just before 10 a.m. by members of the Chicago Police Department Fugitive Apprehension Unit in the 1100 block of West 102nd Street.
The shooting happened just before midnight in the 2400 block of East 91st Street.
Chicago police said the victim was shot twice in the arm and once in the chest. He then hit multiple parked cars before jumping a curb and stopping near 90th and Yates.
CBS Chicago confirmed there was a catalytic converter theft underway when the victim went outside.
There have been no criminal charges in the shooting that killed Abnerd Joseph last year, but his family hopes the lawsuit will bring them closure and justice. CBS 2's Sabrina Franza reports.
It was said that the victim remote started his car and was walking towards it when he was shot by an unknown person.
He was struck in the left leg and taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital by the Chicago Fire Department in fair condition.
The shooting happened around 9:45 p.m. in the 5100 block of West North Avenue.
