Police said the boy has been charged with four counts of aggravated battery, four counts of robbery, two counts of attempted robbery, one count of armed robbery, and one count of aggravated robbery.
The thefts happened on Dec. 5 and 7 during the afternoon and evening hours.
No arrests have been made in either robbery. Police have not confirmed if the two incidents are connected.
Police said the pair approached the passenger on the train and attempted to take their belongings.
A Brinks armored truck is believed to have been robbed.
Police scanner reports said the robbers took $50,000 to $90,000—as well as the driver's gun.
In one incident, the robbers displayed a knife. The robbers were wearing black hooded sweat shirts and ski masks, police said.
The robberies happened in the Uptown and Edgewater neighborhoods, with the first happening on Nov. 13 and the latest on Wednesday.
