Since the previous gathering, there have been several meetings with downtown residents who are fed up with the so-called takeovers.
In past years, "teen takeovers" have been known to culminate in deadly violence, including one right in Millennium Park in 2022.
Such so-called teen takeovers have a history of turning violent, and police were taking action ahead of time to prevent any such event from getting out of hand. Marissa Sulek reports.
In addition to the ceremony, a Hawaiian holiday-themed tent featuring dozens of local vendors will be set up for the Millennium Park Holiday Market, which is available this weekend only, along with ice skating.
