During a status hearing on Friday, McHenry County Judge Robert Wilbrandt set a tentative Dec. 9 trial date for Freund, 61.
"Miss Cunningham was responsible for that life. And now she must be responsible for his death."
During her sentencing hearing on Thursday, JoAnn Cunningham asked the judge for forgiveness, saying she loved A.J., the 5-year-old son she admitted killing.
