Homeowners in the south suburbs said the property tax increase is a huge burden for them because the cost of basic necessities are skyrocketing. CBS 2's Suzanne Le Mignot reports.
In 2023 south suburban property taxes are up just shy of 20% on average, setting a new record. In two towns, Dixmoor and Phoenix, tax bills have more than doubled.
The monthly rate of interest charged on late payments will also drop – from 1.5 percent to 0.75 percent.
