About 3:15 p.m., the boy was standing in a playground in the 1300 block of South St. Louis Avenue when he heard gunfire and felt pain, police said.
It had been a physical game between two intense rivals Wednesday night, as North Lawndale beat Marshall in the 3A sectional playoff. When the two teams lined up to shake hands, they began exchanging heated words, and soon players were throwing punches.
Officers responded to the "domestic-related stabbing" about 8 p.m. in the 1800 block of South Central Park Avenue, said police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines.
