The 4th of July parade through Hyde Park has been happening for more than 30 years, entirely organized by the community.
There were displays of patriotism on Chicago's South Side on Tuesday as the annual 4th on 53rd parade stepped off. And there was one particularly eye-catching outfit.
Once again, they came together to move forward together as a community.
"I went to Highland Park High School, and so I was obviously heartbroken at what happened, and I wanted to come and help them through."
More than 2,200 people came together in Highland Park for a community walk to mark one year since the Fourth of July parade shooting that irrevocably changed thousands of lives.
Organizers said they want to make sure that everyone who comes here feels safe.
From stilt walkers and firetrucks to people passing out red, white, and blue pinwheels and candy, the Independence Day parade had all the traditions.
