From the Mobile Weather Lab, Noel Brennan came across an accident involving a car and a semi-trailer truck on the Tri-State Tollway amid the snow.
Repeatedly in Lake Forest Wednesday, very light waves of snow would pick up significantly throughout day. Thus, as fast as crews went in to plow, the roads got blanketed again in a matter of minutes.
A number of cars and semi-trailer tracks went off the road on north suburban expressways Wednesday. Noel Brennan reports from the Mobile Weather Lab.
It is unclear how many people were killed or what caused the crash.
Photos from the scene showed a white car, a Chevrolet pickup truck, and at least two semi-trailer trucks were among the vehicles involved in the pileup near Cicero Avenue in Alsip.
More than a dozen vehicles were involved.
Crews put out the flames at the crash site on the Tri-State between Crawford and Kedzie avenues in Alsip.
Video from the scene showed the truck—cab, trailer, and all—engulfed in a raging inferno.
