Police said around 4:30 a.m., officers and fire crews responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of West Lake Avenue and Pfingsten Road. The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames, with occupants still inside.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as a 35-year-old man, died from his injuries.
The victim, identified as Austin Stanek, 24, of Island Lake, Illinois, was taken to Advocate Good Shepard Hospital in Barrington, where he died.
