"We're urging Chicago voters to vote early, and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with getting your civic duty out of the way," said Chicago Board of Election Commissioners chair Marisel Hernandez.
A total of 299,490 ballots have been counted in the city as of 7 p.m. on Election Day, according to the Chicago Board of Elections.
"I'm very frustrated because it should be such an easy process. They've done this before. The election is important to everybody."
One of the biggest races to keep an eye on Tuesday is the Republican Primary for Illinois governor.

The Chicago Board of Elections will start mailing ballots in May. Those ballots will come with postage-paid return envelopes.
