One day after his release from the Bears, the Lions have claimed veteran safety Chris Harris off waivers.
This is my favorite week in the NFL season, as it's the only time I can assure you the Bears won't lose. Even though the Bears are on a bye, there are thirteen games to be played.
The Bears take their longest road trip of the season, to play a real football match in Wembley Stadium. It's the end of an era for Donovan McNabb, and the beginning of an era in Minnesota and Denver. Outside of a few games, there are several lopsided match-ups on the Week 7 docket. Here's my take on how everything will shake out with my predictions, my juggernaut games of the week, and my "juggernot lames of the weak":
The Lions have acquired running back Ronnie Brown from the Eagles for for Jerome Harrison and an undisclosed 2013 draft pick.
While most of our focus is on the Bears and Vikings "3rd Place in the NFC North" bowl on Sunday night, there will be twelve other games played this weekend.
Chris Harris and Brandon Meriweather are expected to be benched in favor of Major Wright and Chris Conte for Sunday's game. Wright and Conte are expected to get the first-team reps at strong and free safety, respectively, during Thursday's practice.
In the wake of the Bears' crushing and penalty-laden loss to the Detroit Lions Monday, Bears tight end Kellen Davis is focused on regrouping and looking forward to the next game.
Reports indicate Bears defensive end Julius Peppers sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee during Monday night's 24-13 loss to the Lions.
Detroit police have impounded a party bus they say operated illegally as a strip club for reveling football fans at a popular tailgating spot.
Jay Cutler was pressured and knocked around, the defense gave up almost 400 yards and poor coaching decisions continued to sink the Bears. Matt Bowen of The National Football Post and Chicago Tribune joined The Boers and Bernstein Show on Tuesday to discuss what's ailing the Bears.
Impersonating Jim Mora in writing doesn't do that classic quote any justice, but if you are one of those Bears fans that is still hoping for a second straight NFC North Division title this season — or even a spot in the NFC playoffs in general -- forget it.
Everywhere you look with this team there's a problem. Perhaps too many for the Bears to fix in 11 games.
After giving up 543 total yard to the Panthers last week, the Bears followed that up by surrendering 395 yards of total offense to the Lions an a national embarrassment on Monday Night Football.
The final score reads 24-13, but it might as well have been 240-13. As poor as the Lions played, nobody in the Chicagoland thought the Bears had a snowball's chance in pulling that one out after the Lions went up 21-10. The offensive line was outmatched, and almost the entire defense failed to show up Monday night. From there, the rest just fell into place.
Matthew Stafford's second touchdown pass put Detroit ahead in the third and Jahvid Best's 88-yard run later in the quarter gave the Lions a double-digit lead in a 24-13 win over the Chicago Bears on Monday night.
With the Packers moving to 5-0, it's imperative that the Bears get a win tonight in Detroit. A loss would leave two undefeated teams at the top of the division. Plus, both of those teams at this point would have tie-breakers against the Bears. Even if you think that winning the division is a fantasy, there's still the issue of the wildcard. If the Bears want to be in that conversation, a win is essential. Here's what I'm watching in this pivotal matchup:
As the Bears offense struggles to find its identity, CBS Sports football analyst Boomer Esiason thinks the Bears should just stick to what works.
Leading the charge for the physical battle will be Lions defensive tackle, Ndamukong Suh, who is notorious for his dirty play. Chicago Bears radio analyst Tom Thayer said the Bears should go shot for shot with Suh.
As the Bears head to Detroit to take on the undefeated Lions as the nation watches on Monday Night Football, head coach Love Smith isn't buying the hype that this is a "must-win" game.
The Bears have won their last six games against the Detroit Lions, but the game coming up this Monday is expected to be a difficult one, and what analyst Tom Thayer calls "the most physical game" ever between the two teams.
Matt Bowen of The National Football Post and Chicago Tribune thinks the Bears Cover-2 defensive scheme may be the way to stop the 6-foot-5-inch receiver who has eight touchdowns through the first four games of the season.
t will be a showdown in Motown on Monday night, when the Chicago Bears take on the undefeated Detroit Lions in the "2nd place in the NFC North" bowl.
He's the best defensive tackle in the NFL in just his second season in the league. He's as intimidating of force as you'll find.
It's a must-win for the Bears this weekend, and I think the Panthers will put up more of a fight than people expect.
