Two Wounded In Shooting In Zion
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two people were shot in north suburban Zion late Wednesday morning, and showed up at the police station to seek help.
Zion Police said two men, ages 18 and 25, were shot Wednesday morning around 11:30 a.m. near 24th and Joppa.
The two men managed to drive themselves to the police station, about 10 blocks away from where the shooting occurred, before one of them collapsed.
"As officers were actually walking out of the building and responding to the call, a vehicle pulled up with two gunshot victims - one being the driver of the vehicle and one being the passenger," said Zion Police Chief Steve Dumyahn. "The driver got out of the vehicle, walked up to the back door of the police department - and collapsed."
Chief Dumyahn said the other man who'd been shot stayed in the car.
Zion Fire Department Battalion Chief Eric Troy confirmed paramedics treated two victims who apparently drove themselves to the police station.
Troy said at least one of the victims was airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, the nearest Level 1 trauma center equipped for treating the most serious injuries.
Dumyahn said both are expected to survive.
Three men are currently being questioned.
