Zion Police Looking For Red Scion In Fatal Hit-And-Run
ZION, Ill. (CBS) -- Zion police are releasing new details about a vehicle involved in the fatal hit-and-run that killed a 20-year-old Waukegan man earlier this week.
Authorities say damaged parts left behind at the scene suggest the driver was operating a red Scion XB made between 2004 and 2008. The parts could also fit other Toyota and Lexus models, said Zion police, who released a stock image of a red Scion.
The vehicle likely sustained extensive front-end damage.
The body of Francisco Jose Avila Castro was found around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday at 33rd Street and Geneva Lane. Investigators have not yet determined where the victim was heading at the time, but the body was found near a popular jogging path.
Police speculate the driver who struck Castro was traveling faster than the 35 mph limit at the site.
