Zambrano Back In Starting Rotation
Carlos Zambrano returns to the Cubs starting rotation Monday night in San Francisco. Lou Piniella announced the decision prior to Wednesday's game vs. the Brewers. Piniella says Zambrano will probably be on a pitch count between 75-80.
For his part Zambrano said it was time to get back to what he does best and he expects to regain his form of a couple of years ago that earned him an inflated $91 million contract. The enigmatic hurler said he has learned a lot of lessons over the last two months but is thankful for all the support he has received. He pointed out to us that all his team mates have his back. That may or may not be true but certainly the Cub's organization is hoping for positive results with him on the mound. If he can perform then they have a slim chance of trading him in the off season. Zambrano says he wants to stay in Chicago and complete his mission but there's no question that management will trade him at the drop of a hat if they are able to.
