Zambrano Apologizes, Wants To Remain A Cub
CHICAGO (CBS) Carlos Zambrano apologized to closer Carlos Marmol Monday for his critical comments after the closer blew a save Sunday and will not be fined or punished further, according to the Chicago Tribune.
"What's the big deal about this?" Zambrano said in Cincinnati Monday. "I don't understand. I say what I say yesterday. I was frustrated."
Zambrano was critical of Marmol's pitch selection in the ninth inning and said the Cubs were playing "like a Triple-A team."
According to the Tribune, Quade and Zambrano had a meeting and there will be not be a fine or suspension handed down. Carlos Marmol accepted the apology and it appears all parties are ready to the incident go.
"Let's move on. Let's play baseball," Zambrano said.
As for his future with the organization:
"I don't want to think about that," Zambrano said. "I'm a Cubbie. I want to be a Cub the rest of my life. I want to focus on this team.''
