Your Chicago: Tour Boat Captain Has Breathtaking View
CHICAGO (CBS) – Steve Lipine just might have the best view of the city
It's a view that is constantly changing, according to the captain of the Mystic Blue. The tour boat that offers two-hour dinner cruises.
"It's very rare that two days in a row are going to be exactly the same," Lipine tells CBS 2's Rob Johnson and Kate Sullivan. "Something else is always going on, either weather or conditions. It's never the same."
Lipine grew up in the south suburbs and used to be in electronics. But recently the boat enthusiast decided to give up his job to pursue his passion.
"I did not expect the biggest boys on the block to call me, but Entertainment Cruises called and said, 'We'd like to hire you,' and I said, 'I think I can do that.'"
He calls it a "dream job."
"I hate to tell my boss I would actually do this for free," Lipine says.
On nights when Navy Pier has fireworks -- on Wednesdays and Saturdays -- passengers get the added attraction of seeing the city's skyline gloriously lit up.
