Young Girl Abducted While Walking In Hammond
HAMMOND, Ind. (STMW) - Investigators are searching for a young girl reportedly pulled into a vehicle by a man in Hammond, Ind., Thursday afternoon.
A group of children notified police of the incident, which occurred about 12:30 p.m. a block south of the Hammond Public Library near the intersection of 173rd Street and Columbia Avenue.
The suspect is described as a white man in his 30s dressed in black with a black ski mask. Police say he is believed to be driving a green, four-door SUV with a broken front amber light.
The victim is described as a light-skinned, black female, age 9 or 10, wearing a pink hat and coat.
Witnesses told police they saw the man get out of the vehicle and grab the girl, Hammond Police Chief Brian Miller said.
