Wrong-Way Driver Injures Multiple People On I-355
LOCKPORT, Ill. (STMW) -- A driver who was allegedly drunk and driving the wrong way on Interstate 355 injured multiple people in a crash Monday night.
About 8 p.m., the driver was heading south on northbound I-355 lanes near 143rd Street near southwest suburban Lockport when the vehicle struck another head on, Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Mark Pilgrim said.
The driver of the second vehicle was taken to a hospital for a broken leg, Pilgrim said. There were also an unspecified number of children in that vehicle with minor injuries, Pilgrim said.
The driver, whose age or gender was not yet known, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, Pilgrim said.
