Wrigleyville Resident Angered By Recent Construction
CHICAGO (CBS) – 85-year-old Wrigleyville resident puts her foot down on the neighborhood changes, after plans to move a utility pole near her parking lot.
85-year-old Dolores Wilson has lived in Wrigleyville for 54 years. She lives across the street from Wrigley Field and recently, its major construction, CBS 2's Roseanne Tellez reports.
She said she never had a problem until now.
An 'X' marks a spot for a new utility pole, just behind her tenant parking lot.
"How in the world can they back out, or come in in and out," Wilson said. 'If there's going to be a post over here? There's no way. It's impossible."
The pole is to be moved from the east to the west side of the alley to accommodate development of a new hotel at the corner of Clark and Addison, Com Ed confirms.
"And it's going to stop because I am not going to permit this to happen," Wilson said.
Wilson met with Com Ed before, she said, when they first began to move the pole to another spot. She stopped their drills. She thinks the new spot is just as bad.
Com Ed responded to Wilsons compliant, "Today, we learned that her concerns remain, and we will continue to work with her, the City of Chicago, and the developer to come up with a mutually agreeable solution."
Wilson said she thinks the Cubs are calling the shots.
The Chicago Cubs told CBS 2 that this has nothing to do with any political pull of the Cubs. It is strictly a construction issue, in order to accommodate the foundation of the hotel.
Alderman Tunney's office said he is trying to help broker a solution that makes everyone happy.
