Wreck In Kane County Leaves Two Critical
PINGREE GROVE, Ill. (STMW) - Six adults were hospitalized after a pickup truck, a sport-utility vehicle and a car collided on an icy roadway Wednesday night in northwestern Kane County.
Police responded at 9:47 p.m. to a three-vehicle crash on Plank Road near Brier Hill Road in an unincorporated area in Plato Township, according to a statement from the Kane County Sheriff's office.
Pingree Grove firefighter Patrick Heinz said a pickup truck and a sport-utility vehicle collided head-on, and a third car also crashed into them on the extremely icy roadway that likely caused the wreck.
While no one was ejected, a man and a woman who were critically injured were extricated. They were taken to Provena Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin, said Heinz.
Two other adults who were seriously hurt were taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin and Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva while two others who were considered "walking wounded'' were taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin in good condition, the firefighter said.
No children were hurt.
