Words Matter: A White Sox Opening Day Proposal
By John Dodge
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Hopeless romantic "Mike" on Monday offered his hand in marriage to "Heather"--proposing to spend one day a year with her for the rest of his life.
Hopeless, indeed.
Just what Mike wants to do for the other 364 days remains a mystery.
If Heather said yes, one would presume he would be there for the wedding and hopefully on their anniversary each year.
So that leaves 363 days to do whatever he wants, it seems.
What did the Opening Day scoreboard proposal cost Mike at U.S. Cellular Field?
According to Swimmingly, it was $55.
If Mike were a Cubs' fan, it would have set him back $175, according to Swimmingly's breakdown of cost-per-park proposals.
Dodgers fans pay a league-topping $2,500.
The smartest teams in baseball are the five clubs that don't allow proposals of any kind on their big screens: Blue Jays, Angels, Royals, Orioles and Mets.
