Woodstock Groundhog Day Festival Called Off
WOODSTOCK, Ill. (CBS) -- Life is imitating art in northwest suburban Woodstock. Wednesday is Groundhog Day, and there's a blizzard in the forecast.
If you happen to find yourself in Woodstock, which stood in for Punxsutawney, Pa., in the 1993 movie "Groundhog Day," you surely won't have to worry about reliving the same day over and over again. However, you won't be able to attend the suburb's annual Groundhog Day festival either.
The festival has been called off due to the impending blizzard.
Woodstock has been celebrating its Groundhog Day Festival ever since the filming of Groundhog Day. City officials gather on the historic Square, and wait for the prognostication of Woodstock Willie.
But not to worry – the festival hasn't been called off altogether. It has been rescheduled for 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, at Pirro's Restaurante, 228 Main St. in Woodstock. Previously purchased tickets will be honored.
