Woman's Body Found In North Suburban Lake

(STMW) -- Authorities are trying to identify a woman whose body was found by a jogger floating in a lake Friday morning near north suburban Mundelein.

Lake County Sheriff's police were called just after 8 a.m. to Sylvan Lake in the 26000 block of North Highland Avenue in unincorporated Mundelein.

A person jogging had noticed something floating in the water, and as he approached, he realized it was a person, a statement from the sheriff's office said.

The jogger ran to a nearby home and called 911. Deputies arrived and found the body of "what appears to be an adult female" in the lake, police said.

A death investigation is under way as police try to identify the body.

The victim is described as an Asian woman in her 40s or 50s, about 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-5 and 120 pounds to 130 pounds. She has short black hair, and was wearing a purple long-sleeve shirt, black spandex-type pants, and a gray skirt, police said.

Anyone with possible information — or who knows someone matching the description who is missing, did not show up for work or return home as scheduled — is asked to call the Lake County sheriff's office at (847) 549-5200.
