Woman Sues Ex, Claims He Secretly Filmed Her
CHICAGO (STMW) - A Cook County woman is suing her former boyfriend, claiming he secretly hid a video camera in his closet to film them having sex, then showed the footage to his brother and other people.
The woman, a Cook County resident referred to only as Jane Doe, filed the suit Monday in Cook County Circuit Court against the boyfriend, also of Cook County.
The woman claims she found the footage on his cell phone in July 2010, according to the suit. She claims he created the tapes without her knowledge or permission by hiding a video camera in his bedroom closet.
When she confronted him, according to the suit, he allegedly told her the video was only on his cell phone and computer, but the woman later found the footage on a video tape in his apartment -- along with similar video tapes other women having sex with him.
The suit further claims the boyfriend showed the footage of her to his brother and other third parties and that the woman has suffered from depression, embarrassment and other emotional distress because of the video. She has since ended her relationship with him, the suit said.
The four-count suit claims intrusion upon seclusion, public disclosure of private facts and intentional infliction of emotional distress. It also seeks an injunction forcing him to turn over all videotapes and allow a forensic examination of all his electronic media.
The suit also seeks an unspecified amount in compensatory and punitive damages plus the costs of the suit.
