Woman Shot To Death At Gary Casino Parking Garage
GARY, Ind. (CBS) -- A 76-year-old grandmother and businesswoman was found fatally shot early Friday in the parking garage of the Majestic Star Casino in Gary, Ind.
Mary Austgen was found in the section known as 2D, in her car. Police had no motive, and friends were mystified at the homicide.
"Mary is a very nice person, everybody in the community liked her," longtime friend Tim Philbin tells CBS 2's Chris Martinez. "She's always friendly, waving, always seemed to be in good spirits."
Her St. John, Ind. home was searched repeatedly by police for clues, hours after her body was discovered, with a single bullet wound to her left side. Police had been looking for the grandmother, who was reported missing Thursday afternoon.
She was last seen at a business complex in Griffin that bears her family's name. Sources tell CBS 2 there is surveillance video of Austgen leaving work in distress Thursday night.
Police confirm that location is now part of their investigation.
