Woman Sexually Assaulted By Two Men In Momence Bar

(CBS) -- A woman was sexually assaulted inside a bathroom at a bar in Momence over the weekend, police said.

The 38-year-old victim was working as a bartender on Saturday when she was attacked by two men, police said. One of the suspects is reportedly a former president of the school board; the other a volunteer high school football coach.

John Harrison, 39, and Thomas Madison, 45, both of Momence were identified by the woman and were both charged on Thursday with criminal sexual assault and unlawful restraint.

The attack happened at 1:30 a.m. Saturday at a bar in the 100 block of East Washington Street in Momence.

Both men are being held at the Jerome Combs Detention Center, pending bond hearings, police said.

Manteo police were asked to investigate at the request of Momence Police Chief Jeff Cavender because both men "have personal and professional affiliations with members of the Momence Police Department," according to a statement from Momence police.

The nature of those affiliations were not disclosed.

According to the Daily Journal of Kankakee, Madison was the former president of the Momence school board. Harrison was a volunteer football coach at Momence High School. Momence is a community of 3,200 people in Kankakee County.

The Maneto Police Department was expected to handle the investigation, CBS 2's Mike Parker reports.
