Boys Charged With Robbing Woman Of iPhone At Red Line Stop

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police call it "apple-picking" – robbing people for their Apple technology such as the iPhone or the iPod -- and this Monday morning, two teenage boys stand charged with committing such a crime at a CTA train stop.
As CBS 2's Susanna Song reports, police say the 14-year-old boys robbed a woman at the Harrison Red Line subway stop around 12:40 p.m. Sunday. The boys approached her, pointed a gun, and stole the woman's iPhone, police said.

The woman told Chicago Transit Authority personnel she was robbed after getting off a southbound train, and police were notified.
The CTA cut power to the train in an attempt to find the robbers after receiving the alert.
The two boys were apprehended at the Cermak/Chinatown Red Line station two stops to the south, police said.
The train was halted for 33 minutes as police investigated.
Overnight, one of the boys was cited in a juvenile delinquency petition with theft, while the other was cited with having a pellet gun that looked like a firearm.
Their names have not been released due to their age.
