Woman Mugged In Lincoln Park, Cops Nab Suspects
CHICAGO (STMW) - Two men were nabbed shortly after mugging a woman at gunpoint early Saturday in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.
Adrian Villela, 26, of the 100 block of 19th Avenue in Melrose Park, and Francisco Carmona, 26, of the 100 block of West 24th Place, were charged at 5:30 a.m. with one count each of armed robbery, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said.
The 24-year-old woman was walking alone on a sidewalk in the 1900 block of North Lincoln Avenue when she passed one of the suspects at 12:05 a.m.
After walking by one of the men, the second suspect brandishing a handgun confronted her and demanded her purse, Perez said. She gave her purse to him and both suspects fled, Perez said.
She flagged down an off-duty Chicago Police officer, who called authorities with a detailed description of the attackers and police found and arrested them at 1832 N. Orleans St. after she positively identified them, Perez said.
Both the handgun and her purse were recovered at 321 N. Wisconsin St., Perez said.
The woman was not physically injured, police said.
One of the suspects was expected in bond court Saturday, but bond information was not immediately available.
Belmont Area detectives are investigating.
