Woman Killed In Logan Square Traffic Crash
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 67-year-old woman died after an SUV traveling in the wrong lanes slammed into a car in a hit-and-run crash early Christmas morning in the Logan Square neighborhood.
A 2000 Chevrolet Blazer traveling north in the southbound lanes of the 2600 block of North Pulaski Road crashed into the passenger's side of southbound Volkswagon Golf about 4:45 a.m., police said.
The backseat passenger -- identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as 67-year-old Obduila Villalobos -- was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she was declared dead at 5:18 a.m., authorities said.
Her 25-year-old daughter was driving the vehicle, but it was not immediately known if she was injured.
The driver of the Blazer fled the scene, and a 25-year-old man in the front passenger's seat refused medical attention, police said.
The police Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.
