Woman Injured In I-80 Crash, Driver Charged With Underage DUI
MOKENA, Ill. (STMW) -- A male under the age of 21 was charged with DUI early Monday after the SUV he was driving collided with a rental truck on I-80, injuring one woman in southwest suburban Mokena.
The Nissan SUV crashed into the Penske rental truck, which was towing another car, about 12:35 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-80 near Wolf Road, said Illinois State Police Sgt. Chris Wilkes.
A woman sitting in the passenger seat of the rental truck suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Wilkes said. The man driving the truck was not injured.
The driver of the SUV refused medical treatment at the scene, but was taken to Saint Joseph Medical Center for observation, Wilkes said.
He was eventually taken into custody and charged with DUI Zero Tolerance and unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor, Wilkes said.
