Woman Hospitalized After Crash Into Utility Pole
CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. (STMW) -- A woman was hospitalized after the driver of a truck unexpectedly collided with her vehicle while changing lanes, sending her Mustang into a utility pole Thursday morning in northwest suburban Crystal Lake.
The crash happened at 6:39 a.m. on Main Street between Crystal Lake Avenue and Congress Parkway, a release from Crystal Lake police said.
Crews found Efran B. Garcia, the driver of a 1993 Mack truck had changed lanes from the inner lane to the curb lane, colliding with a 2003 Ford Mustang being driven by a 22-year-old woman from Algonquin, the release said.
The woman lost control of the Mustang after the collision, leaving the roadway on the east shoulder and striking a utility pole.
The woman was taken to Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry for treatment of non life threatening injuries, the release said. Garcia, 54, of Woodstock, was not injured.
Garcia was charged with improper lane usage and issued a citation for the same, the release said.
Traffic in both the northbound and southbound lanes of Main Street were reduced to two lanes and were intermittently stopped as crews worked to clear the road and assess damages, the release said. The road was re-opened by 7:20 a.m.
