CHICAGO (CBS) -- A woman was killed when she was hit by a pickup truck in the Brighton Park neighborhood, after a teen accidentally put the truck in gear.
WBBM Newsradio's Mike Krauser reports a pickup truck carrying construction equipment plowed through the corner of a garage at the mouth of an alley near 45th Street and St. Louis Avenue, around 7:15 a.m.
The truck then struck a woman on the sidewalk, and damaged a brick wall, before coming to a stop in a back yard on the other side of the street.

"The guy ran into the garage real bad, and then he hit the woman, and then he went through the brick wall," one witness said.
The woman he hit was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital where she died late Thursday afternoon.
Neighbors said the man who was driving lives down the block. Police said the truck was in the alley when the owner got out to put something in back, and the man's 13-year-old son accidentally bumped the gearshift while getting in the passenger's seat.
When the truck began rolling, the boy tried to hit the brakes, but stepped on the accelerator pedal instead, sending the car speeding down the alley. It struck the woman before crossing the street, and stopping in the yard across the way.
Police issued the father a ticket for leaving a running vehicle unattended, and for driving on a suspended or revoked license.
