Woman Found Strangled In Edgewater Alley
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A woman whose body was found in an Edgewater neighborhood alley Saturday morning was strangled and her death has been ruled a homicide, an autopsy Sunday has found.
The woman's body was found in the alley in the 5600 block of North Broadway at 7:06 a.m. on Saturday, according to police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak. The alley is behind the North Side Toyota auto dealership, according to a street directory.
The woman, who remained unidentified as of Sunday afternoon, was believed to be in her 40s, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. She was pronounced dead at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center shortly after she was found, the medical examiner's office said.
An autopsy Sunday found the cause of death to be strangulation and her death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner's office said.
Police had no additional details on the investigation Sunday afternoon.
Area North detectives are investigating.
