Woman Ejected, Killed In Kennedy Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) - A woman driving a car that struck another car and cement wall was ejected and died after the crash that happened early Sunday on the Kennedy Expressway on the North Side.
The wreck occurred about 4:15 a.m. in the northbound lanes near North Avenue, according to Illinois State Police District Chicago Troopers.

The woman was behind the wheel of a 2007 Ford Focus and was traveling at a high rate of speed when she passed a 2007 Hyundai Elantra, cutting in front of it and hitting it on its left front, according to ISP Master Sgt. Jeff Kashmier.
The Ford swerved to the right, "went straight for the cement wall,'' and hit it before it bounced back into traffic and hit the Elantra again, but this time on its passenger side, Kashmier said.
The woman was ejected on the Ford's passenger-side and no one else was inside the car.
The body was found about 4:20 a.m., ISP Trooper Mark Hall said.The woman was pronounced dead at 4:42 a.m. at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to a spokeswoman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Her identity was not being released as of 10 a.m. Sunday.
Both vehicles came to rest near the left shoulder and no one inside the Hyundai was hurt, according to the master sergeant. No fire occurred.
It was clear and the pavement was dry. The speed limit is 55 mph and there were no citations written and it was not immediately known whether drugs or alcohol were factors, the master sergeant said.
The Ford sustained damage to both its sides and to its front while the Hyundai had damage to both its sides, Kashmier said.
