Woman Shot And Killed On South Shore

Updated 02/05/11 - 12:18 p.m.

CHICAGO (CBS) - A woman was shot and killed early Saturday while walking on a sidewalk in the South Shore neighborhood.

Cole Streeter, 24, was walking along the 2600 block of East 75th Street at about 2 a.m. when a man approached her and shot her several times, authorities said.

Streeter was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition. She was pronounced dead there at 5:13 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Streeter's adult sister was with her during the attack but was not harmed, according to a Calumet Area police sergeant.

The sergeant said no one has been arrested and investigators are looking at all possibilities, including domestic-related, as a motive.

The sergeant described the shooter as being an African-American man with a medium complexion. He was between the ages of 19 and 23, was wearing a black and white baseball cap and dark clothing, and fled on foot.

Calumet Area detectives were investigating and were trying to speak again with the victim's sister Saturday morning.
