Parking Enforcement Officer Hurt In Wrigleyville Hit-And-Run

CHICAGO (CBS) - A parking enforcement officer is in the hospital with critical injuries, after a sport-utility vehicle plowed into her over the weekend in Wrigleyville.
The hit-and-run occurred about 11:50 p.m. in the 1000 block of West Byron Street, near the junction with Sheffield Avenue and Sheridan Road, according to police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.

The sport-utility vehicle was westbound on Byron Street when it plowed into the 31-year-old Chicago woman who was standing in the street, according to a Town Hall District police lieutenant.
The woman is an employee of an independent parking ticket company. It is unclear if she was on duty.
The woman was taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Perez said.
The SUV did not appear to be speeding or driving erratically prior to the crash, but it fled the scene afterwards, the lieutenant said. Two occupants were inside it.
"A white SUV, I think a Honda four-door, came around the corner at a high rate of speed – I'd say about 35-40 miles an hour, struck her, pushing her up into here, and slamming her into the back of the vehicle here," said witness John Drennan.
The victim told police she works for an independent company writing parking tickets, but it was not immediately known whether she was doing that at the time of the wreck.
