Woman Charged With Kidnapping, Breaking Victim's Nose
CHICAGO (CBS) -- DNA evidence led to charges against a Chicago woman accused of kidnapping a 50-year-old woman, beating her and leaving her with a broken nose last year in the West Side Lawndale neighborhood, police said.
The kidnapping happened on Feb. 6, 2011 in the 700 block of South Karlov Avenue. DNA--reportedly from a beer bottle in the victim's car--led to the charges nearly a year later.
Rachel E. Schram, 29, of the 4800 block of West Erie Street is charged with one count each of aggravated kidnapping/inflicting harm and robbery, police said.
Schram is accused of robbing and kidnapping the 50-year-old woman. At some point during the kidnapping, Schram hit the woman, causing lacerations to her head. The victim also suffered a broken nose, police said.
Police said Schram was arrested on Saturday.
