Woman Charged With Driving Drunk In Deadly Near North Crash

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A woman is charged with driving drunk in a crash over the weekend that killed a man walking near his home on the city's Near North Side.
Bianca Garcia, 21, of the 1800 block of West 34th Street, stands charged with aggravated DUI resulting in death, DUI, reckless driving, driving the wrong way on a one-way street and not having a driver's license or insurance, according to a police News Affairs release.
Her bond was set at $400,000 Monday.
Garcia was driving a Jeep Liberty in the 1100 block of North LaSalle Boulevard, near Elm Street, around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. She allegedly struck Jesse Bradley, 32, in a crosswalk and drove away, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
She headed south on LaSalle Boulevard and was stopped by police a few blocks away shortly after the accident, police said. Garcia is expected to appear in bond court later Monday.
Bradley, who lived on the same block, was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital at 2:54 a.m. Saturday, according to the medical examiner's office.
Garcia and a passenger were also taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in stable condition after the crash, police said.
