Woman Busted For Stealing Christmas DVDs
CHICAGO (STMW) -- The holidays are supposed to be a time for giving, but not for one woman who was arrested for allegedly stealing three Christmas DVDs from a Rogers Park Dominick's Sunday night.
Jennifer Ritchkoff, 38, of the 7400 block of North Ashland Avenue, was inside the Dominick's at 1763 W. Howard St. when a security officer saw her allegedly place items in her purse and walk out without paying, according to a police report.
Ritchkoff was detained by the security officer who recovered three DVDs -- "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Frosty the Snowman and The Santa Clause" -- and two magazines, Time and Life, from the woman.
Police were called to the scene and Ritchkoff was placed under arrested at 8:41 p.m. and charged with felony retail theft about an hour and a half later.
When officers asked her why, Ritchkoff allegedly said: "I don't know. I just, I just got an itch,'' according to the report.
She has been arrested twice before for retail theft and has one conviction, according to the report, which said the total value of the items was $58.87.
