Woman Attends Man's Funeral, Then Charged With Murder

GARY, Ind. (CBS) -- Alisha McGee threw away her bloody clothes and hid the gun she used to kill her friend Fredrick Clark. Later, she called relatives to inquire about him and even went to his funeral.

But a year later, McGee, 28, started talking about the fight that led her to shoot the 53-year-old man twice, and her own conversations led to murder charges filed against her Friday.

McGee, of 3789 Rhode Island St., killed Clark, of 625 W. 25th Ave., at his home, the probable cause affidavit states. He was pronounced dead June 4, 2010 on the floor in a hallway.

McGee told a confidential informant she went to Clark's home where he was smoking crack with another woman, who left. Clark was angry, they argued and he hit her, court records state.

Detective Jeff Hornyak watched a video transmission of the conversation between McGee and the informant.

"McGee said something clicked in her and she reached into her bra and shot Fred in the stomach," the affidavit states. She claimed he tried to stab her and hit her with an iron, so she shot him in the head.

Her friend, McKinley "Moose" Jelks, 33, came to the house and took her home, where she bathed after dumping her bloody clothes and hiding the gun.

Jelks was charged with assisting a criminal, the affidavit states.
