Woman Arrested For Trying To Bring Gun On Plane At Midway
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 61-year-old Chicago woman has been charged with trying to take a gun onto a plane at Midway International Airport Thursday morning.
Elaine Robertson, of the 0-to-100 block of East 121st Street, was charged with attempting to board an aircraft with a weapon, police said.
A Transportation Security Administration agent spotted the gun in a carry-on bag as it went through an X-Ray scanner Thursday morning at Midway Airport, police.
Robertson told police the gun was hers but that she did not realize it was in the bag.
She was arrested about 8:30 a.m. and appeared in bond court Friday, police said. A judge set bond at $75,000.
The TSA tells WBBM Newsradio that agents find weapons about four times a day at U.S. airports -- a reason why travelers should always check their luggage thoroughly before leaving for the airport.
