Woman Accused Of Threatening Cop With Sex Toy Now In Jail

GURNEE (STMW) - A north suburban woman accused of threatening an officer with a sex toy last month is behind bars after being ordered held on $10,000 bond on Wednesday for failing to appear in court last week.
Carolee Bildsten, 56, of Gurnee, is charged with one misdemeanor count of aggravated assault and theft of labor after her initial Nov. 9 arrest, Gurnee police Cmdr. Jay Patrick said.
Bildsten allegedly walked out on a tab at Joe's Crab Shack in Gurnee, then approached an officer in a threatening manner when police arrived at her home to collect the bill. She allegedly threatened the officer with what police described as a "clear, rigid feminine pleasure device"
An arrest warrant was issued on Dec. 23 when Bildsten failed to appear in court.
On Tuesday, Bildsten was arrested by Gurnee police and brought to the Lake County Jail on a $75,000 arrest warrant, Lake County Sheriff's police spokesman Christopher Thompson said.
Lake County Associate Judge Raymond Collins set bond at $10,000 during a Wednesday hearing and ordered Bildsten to not have any alcohol or drugs. She also warned that a curfew will be set for her pre-trial and she is not to drive without a driver's license or with any amount of alcohol in her system, court records indicated.
Bildsten was unable to post bond and was taken back to the jail. An arraignment date was set for Jan. 14, records show.
The situation unfolded when an officer was told by a restaurant employee that Bildsten came to the restaurant and ordered a dinner and wine, then went outside and sat on a bench. Police were called because Bildsten had allegedly skipped out on a restaurant bill two weeks prior, police said.
Bildsten was found near Six Flags Great America lying in the grass on the South Side of Grand Avenue, the release said. An officer spoke to her and she told him she was OK. She appeared to be intoxicated and the officer told her she had to pay her bill.
When she said she had money at her apartment and could pay the bill, an officer escorted her to the nearby residence, the release said. Once there she walked into her bedroom, opened a drawer and removed the sex toy, holding it over her head and approaching the officer in a threatening manner, a release from police said.
The officer knocked the device out of the way before he could be hit and placed Bildsten under arrest, the release said.
Bildsten was initially released on a personal recognizance bond and issued a court date of Dec. 6 at the Lake County courthouse, Patrick said. She was also charged with pedestrian under the influence for walking on public roadways while intoxicated.
