Woman, 72, Struck And Killed By Dump Truck On Southwest Side
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A dump truck driver struck and killed a 72-year-old woman in the Southwest Side's Clearing neighborhood Friday evening, then drove off.
Kazmiera Falat, 72, was struck and killed by the dump truck on Harlem Avenue near 62nd Street – on the cusp of the city of Chicago and suburban Summit – according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
The woman was walking across Harlem Avenue about 5:30 p.m. Friday, when the northbound dump truck hit her and did not stop, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
Falat, of the 6200 block of 63rd Street, was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood where she was pronounced dead at 7:35 p.m., according to the Medical Examiner's office.
The driver was not in police custody as of early Saturday.
