Wittenmyer Defends Bush Story
(WSCR) After writing a piece defending Cubs interim GM Randy Bush, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times joined The Mully and Hanley Show to defend his work.
On Tuesday, The Score's Matt Spiegel said he felt Wittenmyer wrote the story for a source.
Wittenmyer called the allegations a "a lazy, cheap-shot."
"(The allegation) was that I wrote the story because I didn't want to lose my source," Wittenmyer told The Mully and Hanley Show. " That's amateur hour. First of all, (Bush) is not a source. Second, the guy is really the guy that's been (used) by some of the people upstairs. … He's a guy that, even before I came to the Cubs, I knew was well-respected in the game on a lot of levels. Everybody seemed to over-look this guy.
"That's just a lazy, cheap-shot to think that I'm writing stories for my own personal interest."
