Witness In Murder Case Fatally Shot In Gary
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police in Gary say a key witness in a Portage murder case was shot and killed yesterday.
Antoinetta Johnson of Hammond died from multiple gunshot wounds she suffered inside the beauty salon, Visions of Beauty, she owned.
"To be frank, it's really sad to be right across from the police station," said James Brown, one of Johnson's employees. "It's just sad."
Gary detectives believe it's possible Johnson, 34, was killed in connection with being a witness to a homicide that happened in Portage last month.
There were no signs the shooting was a robbery.
The suspect was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and is described as a black man, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, medium build with a medium complexion, police said.
